DNA tests for dogs: here is how and why I chose Embark Vet to test my Romanian rescue dog

There are lots of DNA test kits on the market these days, but unless you want to confirm your Labrador is a Labrador, choose the one with the biggest and best-suited DNA database. If you have a street dog from Eastern Europe, you need to find a company that has DNA from that region as well. Watch to learn why and how we went with Embark Vet

Wunderdog contacted Embark Vet for details on whether its test would be suitable for Goldie. Embark has kindly provided a free test kit. embarkvet.com

  1. Hi! Did you get your dogs results? Do the results seem accurate?
    Kind regards,

      Hi Patricia,
yes – I have! I’ll post the results tomorrow.
In a nutshell: the test is super interesting and tested for 165 genetic diseases (all clear – phew!). I showed the test to my vet who was very impressed as well.
Goldie is a village dog, which was to be expected. Virtually no inbreeding and 0.8% wolf 🙂
Thank you so much for checking in!
      Nina
