The brand is going on tour this summer with a series of pop-up shops. The first is in co-founder Genesta’s hometown of Whitstable during the first week of June. No matter when you go, here are team Fetch & Follow’s tips for a doggy day by the sea
It’s hardly a secret that Fetch & Follow is one of Wunderdog’s favourite brands (read our feature here). The founders of this beautiful dog accessories brand, Genesta Gunn and Taneale Hrymakowski, know how to translate that feeling of happiness we can only get from dogs into wonderful products. This summer, Fetch & Follow is spreading its wings from its east London home and hosts a series of pop-up stores. The first is in Whitstable, the Kent seaside home of Genesta. The duo’s dogs have already packed their bags for a week by the sea, and here are their favourite spots.
Who wants to get stuck in a traffic jam when there’s coastal adventure to be had? The train is our preferred mode of four‐legged travel. Trains to Whitstable Station leave from London at Canon Street, St Pancras International and Victoria. The shortest journey is approximately 1hr 15mins, the longest is 2hrs 30mins. Stretch your legs
Whitstable’s West Beach is a long stretch of shingle divided up by wooden groynes. It runs from just south of the town’s harbour to neighbouring Seasalter, is a distance of around a mile and is dog-friendly all year round. The charm of Whitstable’s seafront is encapsulated in the great working fishing harbour. Apart from the photogenic working boats and fisherman huts, there is a craft village, a large harbour café and plenty of fresh fish and seafood. Look for signs to the sea!
We love Harbour Street for its pretty little independent shop fronts, boutiques and restaurants. This character‐filled street has barely changed over the past 100 years, which adds to its charm. Plus, this is where you will find the Fetch & Follow pop-up shop. Some places will let you in with your dog, others won’t so bear that in mind when wandering around.
Food and drink
Whether it’s pre‐walk fuel or a relaxing post‐walk recharge, food and drink is definitely something the gang love to enjoy on dog-friendly days out. We recommend:
- Birdies Whitstable: a lovely restaurant, situated in the heart of Whitstable with the Harbour only a five-minute walk away. Delicious, local seafood such as crab, lobster, skate, sole, bass and oysters are served daily. Expect a warm welcome and homely atmosphere. Dogs are welcome to dine with their owner outside in the front garden, which boasts a prime view of the picturesque Harbour Street.
